Blue Whale
The blue whale lives near the surface in the zone called the photosynthetic subzone.
He mainly lives in the Artic and Antartic waters.
The reason it lives in the ocean near the surface is that it needs to come to the surface to breathe.
It feeds mainly on plankton.
In the winter plankton is scarce and the blue whale has to rely on its thick layer of blubber for nourishment.
